Research IT is happy to announce that Camille Villa has recently joined the group as a Digital Humanities Assistant!
As a student employee in Research IT, Camille played a major role in organizing the #HackFSM hackathon during spring 2014, including suggesting the Free Speech Movement Digital Archive as the area of focus for the hackathon.
Camille recently finished her B.A. in History at UC Berkeley, where she specialized in labor history and history of the American West. She was a founder of the Historical Research Workshop DECal, where she introduced humanities and social science undergraduates to libraries, archives, databases, and research management tools. Before coming to Research IT, she has worked on a variety of campus units supporting research, such as the Visual Resources Center, UC Press, and the Office for the History of Science and Technology.
Camille will be primarily responsible for developing the "resources" area of the Digital Humanities at Berkeley website, and will additionally serve as a digital humanities consultant.
